Volunteer Music Event Coordinator

Poverty Child
4th March 2019
Leeds, United Kingdom
Job Type

No child should have to experience the cruel realities of living on the street. It is this belief that drives Poverty Child to tackle child poverty in the developing world. We work in countries - such as the Philippines and Indonesia - that have seen rapid expansion in urban slums.

Our vision is to realise a world where no child finds themselves in poverty or needs protection from it. It is the charity's goal to impact the lives of 1 million children over the next 10 years. Children should be able to create a better future for themselves, not tied to the life they were born into . To help us achieve this goal we are in need of a Music Event Coordinator to join the team on a voluntary basis.

You will be responsible for organisingĀ a music event in your community. The nature of the event, format and its size is up to you to decide. For example, you could organise a gig using a local band, or organise a mini-concert. Or use other music formats such as singing contests. You also choose when and where to hold your event.

This is a fundraising activity and as such you will have a target to raise funds. You decide which activities you need to reach your target. Be that ticket sales, sponsorships, or traditional fundraising. You will also consider your promotional activities to raise awareness of your event. Be that leafleting, social or local media.

You are somebody who is sympathetic to the plight of children who live and work on the street. You want to give your time and skills to helping improve life for them. Expect to have to devote around 8 hours a week over a period of a month. But, this depends on the size of the event you decide to deliver. The bigger the event the more time you will need to organise.

We provide you with guidance and support from beginning to end. We can also connect you to volunteers who will join your team.

We can help you build your portfolio if you are looking to develop a career in music, events, or the charity sector. We can provide skills endorsements and a recommendation on LinkedIn. We can also provide an employer reference and a case study profile about you on our website.

You are free to work at a location convenient to you - all our team works from home or coffee shops. You also set your weekly working hours, fitting them around your other commitments.

To apply, please click the 'Visit Application Site' button and complete the online form. Explain why you are applying for the role, why you think you can deliver it well, and how you would go about doing so. Remember to upload your CV.

You can expect to hear from us within five working days if we have shortlisted you for interview. The interview is via a video call, and is your opportunity to build upon your application.
